Icon and panel painting courses in the UK and Italy

Peter runs regular courses in his hometown of Broadstairs. These courses offer a unique opportunity to learn the basics of tempera painting and gilding in three days. Participants learn how to gild using 24-carat gold leaf and paint using tempera colours made fresh each day from egg yolks and natural pigments.

Find out why in a recent review of the course for The London Times, BBC journalist Libby Purves wrote, "I learnt more in three days than in a whole term's history of art"

Peter also runs annual painting courses in the unspoiled walled Tuscan hill town of Barga. These courses give participants the opportunity to examine at first hand some of the masterpieces of Italian panel painting and then apply what they have learnt in the studio, using the fifteenth century painting treatise The Craftsman's Hanbook, 'Il Libro Dell' Arte' by Cennino d'Andrea Cennini as a guide.
