Courses
Peter can teach traditional Byzantine icon painting techniques and early Italian panel painting techniques, which includes the use of gold leaf for backgrounds and halos. The tempera paint used will be made from scratch each day using eggs and pigments. To ensure that students receive individual attention, course numbers will be strictly limited to five participants. Tuition will be friendly, informal and constructive.

The course fee includes tuition, materials for your own first icon and a daily lunch . Participants may wish to bring their own fine brushes if they have them.

Friday 29th - Sunday 31st January, three day ‘Head and Halo’ Byzantine icon painting course.
Monday 22nd - Friday 26th March, five day Byzantine icon painting course, including advanced gilding techniques, panel making and gessoing.
Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th April, three day Byzantine icon painting course.
Thursday 3rd - Monday 7th June, ‘Trecento’, a five day course exploring Fourteenth Century Italian gilding and painting techniques, using Cennino Cennini’s “Il Libro dell’ Arte” as source material. *
Friday 25th - Sunday 27th June, three day ‘Head and Halo’ Byzantine icon painting course.
Monday 12th - Sunday 16th July, five day Byzantine icon painting course, including advanced gilding techniques, panel making and gessoing.
Sunday 17th - Friday 22nd October, five day Byzantine icon painting course at West Dean College. **
Courses cost £225 for three days and £375 for five. All materials including gold leaf and pigments plus lunch each day provided.
